PUERTO RICAN BEANS | |
1 lb. kidney or pinto beans 1/3 c. Sofrito (recipe follows) 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 2 tsp. bacon drippings Salt to taste Water Soak beans overnight. If using canned, drain liquid. In medium saucepan, combine first 4 ingredients. Add water just to cover beans. Salt to taste. Bring mixture to a boil and cook over medium heat until liquid is of sauce consistency. If necessary, add more water as beans are cooking. |
