OATS AND WHEAT LOAVES | |
2 or 2 1/2 c. flour 1 c. rolled oats 2 tsp. salt 3 pkg. dry yeast 1 3/4 c. water 1/2 c. corn syrup 1/2 c. butter 2 eggs, reserve one white 2 c. whole wheat flour 1 c. rye flour 1 tbsp. water 4 tsp. sesame seed Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, oats, salt and yeast. Blend well. Heat water, corn syrup and butter until very warm (120-130 degrees). Add liquid and eggs to flour mixture, stir well, then stir in whole wheat flour and rye flour to form soft dough. Knead on floured board, adding 1 cup flour. Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise in warm place about 1 hour. Punch down dough, divide into 2 parts. Shape into loaves. Place in greased bread pans. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in size. Combine reserved egg white and 1 tablespoon water, brush on loaves. Sprinkle with sesame seed. Bake 30 - 40 minutes at 375 degrees. |
