MILE HIGH BISCUITS 
3 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar (optional)
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. Crisco
1 egg, beaten
1 1/8 c. milk

Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add beaten egg and milk. With hand (not a rolling pin), flatten out dough on a surface lightly sprinkled with flour (take care not to flatten too thin). Cut into biscuit shapes. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.
