FRUIT COCKTAIL GEMS 
1 (1 lb.) can fruit cocktail (2 c.)
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. raisins (I like to use white)

Drain fruit reserving syrup. Cream next 4 ingredients until fluffy. Add egg; beat well. Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture with 1/3 cup of the syrup. Stir in chopped nuts, raisins, and fruit. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Makes 3 1/2 dozen. Soft chewy cookies.
