1/2 c. butter, softened
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. applesauce
2 c. flour
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts, chopped
2 tbsp. sugar

In a large bowl, cream butter and 1 3/4 cups sugar. Add eggs and applesauce. Mix well and set aside. Sift together flour, cocoa, soda, salt and cinnamon. Add to large bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour into a greased and floured 13 x 9 inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts and 2 tablespoons sugar on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Freezes well.
