PASTRY:

1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
3 tbsp. confectioners' sugar

Mix together flour, butter and confectioners' sugar, till it forms a ball. Spread in an 8-inch square pan. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.

FILLING:

2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup quartered Maraschino cherries

Mix together first 6 ingredients. Combine lightly with nuts, coconut and quartered cherries. Turn into baked pastry, return to oven and bake for 25 minutes longer. When cooled, cut into squares.
