TURTLE CAKE 
1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 1/2 c. water
3 eggs
3/4 c. butter, creamed
1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
1/3 c. plus 2 tbsp. evaporated milk
1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts
Whipped cream or ice cream

Combine cake mix, water, eggs, and butter; blend until smooth. Pour 1/2 of the batter into greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Melt caramels with evaporated milk over low heat. Pour over cake when removed from the oven. (Do not spread all the way to the edge.) Sprinkle chocolate chips over caramel mixture. Sprinkle nuts over chocolate chips. Pour remaining batter over all. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
