GRAM'S ICE WATER CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
4 egg whites
1 1/2 c. ice water

Cream butter and sugar. In separate bowl sift dry ingredients. Stir sifted dry ingredients into creamed mixture alternately with ice water. Add vanilla and almond extract. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into cake batter until smooth. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until cake tests done.

Makes one large 13 x 9 inch cake or a 3 layer cake. This is a very moist cake and a longtime family favorite!
