DOUGH: 2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 2/3 c. shortening 6 tbsp. cold water FILLING: 3-4 med. potatoes 2 med. onions 3 med. carrots 1 lb. ground chuck Salt and pepper 1. Peel and chop potatoes into cubes. 2. Peel and chop carrots, onions. 3. Mix potatoes, carrots, onions, and meat together. 4. Salt and pepper to taste; set aside. DOUGH: Mix flour, salt, shortening and water well and form into ball. Place ball on floured surface. Roll thin into individual circles approximately 8-inches in diameter. Place about 1/2 cup of meat mixture and pat of butter on dough. Seal shut and cut small slits into top. Place pasties on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes. Lower heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for 45-60 minutes. Baste top after baking time. Makes 8-10 pasties. |
