2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box cake mix (reg. size)
Chocolate chips or nuts (your choice - optional)

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Beat eggs, vanilla, shortening, and about half the dry cake mix until light and fluffy. Stir in remaining cake mix and any optional ingredients. Drop by teaspoon about 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Cookies will be soft in centers when done. They harden some, so don't overbake. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet. Makes about 4 to 5 dozen.
