ELIZABETH TUTTLE'S FRUIT CAKE
COOKIES
 
Makes 4 dozen.

1/4 c. butter
4 tbsp. apple jelly
1 1/2 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 lb. candied cherries
1/2 lb. candied citron (chopped)
1/2 lb. candied pineapple (chopped)
1 lb. shelled pecans
1 box golden raisins

Buy whole cherries, 1/4 pound each red and green. Chop 2/3 and leave others for top of cookies.

Save about 30 halves to place on top; break others. They will be too fine if chopped.
