GERMAN SUGAR COOKIES | |
6 c. flour 1 lb. butter 2 yeast 4 eggs 1 c. milk NUT FILLING: 2 c. ground nuts 1 c. sugar 1 c. milk Mix flour and butter until it looks like meal. Dissolve yeast with cold milk, then add it to the flour mixture. Separate yolks and whites of eggs. Add yolks to mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff, then add to flour mixture. Mix dough well. A little more flour may be added as you work on dough. Stand in ice box for 5 or 6 hours, then take a little bit of dough out at a time and roll on sugared board. Cut dough in squares and fill with nut filling or Lekuar. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees until brown. Nut Filling: Boil ingredients until it becomes very thick. Stir constantly and let it cool. |
