GRANNY'S TEA CAKES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
3 1/4 c. self-rising flour
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Combine sugar and shortening in a large mixing bowl; cream well. Add eggs, beat well by hand. Add flour and vanilla; mix well (dough will be stiff). Drop dough onto greased cookie sheets about 1 inch apart. Bake at 325 degrees until lightly browned. Yield: about 3 1/2 dozen.
