RED DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour sifted with baking soda
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. milk
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. cocoa

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add cocoa and beat well. Add flour and soda. Alternate the milk. Beat in 1 cup boiling water. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

NOTE: For cupcakes, bake at 400 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes.
