1 lb. beef, cut in cubes 3 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. salt Pepper 1/4 tsp. paprika 3 tbsp. shortening 1 1/2 c. water 1 can condensed tomato soup (undiluted) 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 4 med. potatoes, pared 4 med. onions, peeled 3 med. carrots, scraped Preheat skillet to 350 degrees. Dredge beef in flour and seasonings. Save some flour for thickening liquid later on. When pan is preheated, add shortening and allow to melt. When shortening is hot, add meat and brown on all sides. Add water and tomato soup, Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce. Reduce heat to simmer and cover. Simmer until meat is tender (about 30 minutes). Turn up heat until temperature is about 350 degrees and add vegetables. Replace lid, again reduce temperature and simmer and cook for 30-45 minutes until vegetables are tender. Thicken juices with remaining flour and serve. |
