ICE BOX ROLLS | |
1 pkg. yeast 1 c. water 1 tsp. sugar 2 c. water 2/3 c. sugar 1 tbsp. salt 2 eggs 2 tbsp. lard Soak 1 package of yeast in 1 cup lukewarm water to which 1 teaspoon of sugar has been added. Combine 2 cups lukewarm water, 2/3 cup sugar, 1 level tablespoon salt, 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons melted lard. Into this mixture stir enough flour to make a spongy dough (that you can stir with a spoon). Let it stand in a warm place, covering bowl with a towel until double in bulk. Then knead in enough flour to make a stiff dough. Store in refrigerator and use as needed, shaping the rolls and allowing them to stand in a warm place to rise. Bake at 400 degrees until brown, about 10 minutes. |
