CRISSCROSS PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. peanut butter
3 c. flour

Mix white and brown sugar. Cream shortening. Add sugars and cream well. Add well beaten eggs, vanilla, the flour sifted with salt and soda. Add peanut butter. Mix well. Using hands works best. Roll into walnut size balls and press crisscross with a sugared fork. Bake at 400 degrees for about 7 minutes being careful not to overbake.
