GRANDMA GRACE'S ICEBOX OATMEAL
COOKIES
 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. quick oats
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugars. Beat in eggs. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add to first mixture. Stir until blended. Stir in oats add vanilla. Shape into roll. Chill several hours or overnight. Slice with sharp knife. Bake in ungreased pan 8 to 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool. They become crispy.
