“LONE RANGER COOKIES” IS IN:

LONE RANGER COOKIES 
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter or shortening
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 cups oatmeal
2 cups Rice Krispies
1 cup flaked or grated coconut
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips (more, if desired)
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Combine all ingredients. Drop by teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet.

Cookies made using vegetable shortening instead of butter will set up higher and spread less. Butter cookies will spread more but have better flavor; a combination of vegetable shortening and butter may be used if desired.

Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes.

I have made this recipe for years. These are my favorite cookies! If I am out of Rice Krispies, I will use the equivalent of corn flakes. Adds nice crunch, too. One year I decided to put 1/8 of cayenne pepper in the mix. LOVED them. It was just a tiny bit, but you could feel your mouth get warm... not spicy hot at all, just a little kick.
