2 1/2 c. rolled oats
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. melted butter
1 (22 oz.) pkg. brownie mix
1 c. nuts

Mix oats, sugar, flour, soda and salt in a bowl. Stir in melted butter. Reserve 3/4 cup of mixture. Pat oatmeal mixture in bottom of greased 13 x 9 inch pan.

Bake 10 minutes at 350°F. Cool 5 minutes. Prepare brownie mix, using the fudgey recipe instead of the cake recipe on the box. Add the nuts. Spread batter evenly over baked crust. Sprinkle with reserved oatmeal mixture.

Bake according to package directions. Cool, cut in squares.
