2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. Wesson oil
3 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts

Mix ingredients. Mix in 3 cups uncooked, grated apples. Mix by hand. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 55 minutes.

APPLE CAKE TOPPING:

1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk

Pour this boiling mixture over cake as soon as it is removed from oven. Let stand one hour before removing from pan.
