BIG T'S OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. old fashioned or quick oats, uncooked
1 c. finely chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. raisins, if you choose

Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Blend in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Stir in oatmeal, nuts, and raisings. Shape dough into 2 1/2 inch diameter roll. Place in freezer for 2 hours. Cut dough into 1/4 inch slices, place on ungreased cookie sheets 2 inches apart.

Bake in a preheated 350°F oven 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned.
