TOFFEE BARS 
1/2 c. butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. packed dark brown sugar
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Soften butter in 4 quart glass bowl in microwave. Add brown sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until light and fluffy. Add flour gradually, beating thoroughly. Mixture will be crumbly. Press mixture firmly in a 1 1/2 quart glass baking dish. Cook uncovered in microwave oven 7 to 8 minutes at medium high or until layer is set. Rotate dish one-quarter turn after 3 minutes. Remove from oven and set on a flat surface. Melt semi-sweet chocolate in a small glass bowl about 2 minutes at high. Blend until smooth. Spread over warm baked layer. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Cut into bars while still warm.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
