TOFFEE BARS | |
1/2 c. butter 1/4 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/2 c. packed dark brown sugar 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 c. chopped pecans Soften butter in 4 quart glass bowl in microwave. Add brown sugar and vanilla extract. Beat until light and fluffy. Add flour gradually, beating thoroughly. Mixture will be crumbly. Press mixture firmly in a 1 1/2 quart glass baking dish. Cook uncovered in microwave oven 7 to 8 minutes at medium high or until layer is set. Rotate dish one-quarter turn after 3 minutes. Remove from oven and set on a flat surface. Melt semi-sweet chocolate in a small glass bowl about 2 minutes at high. Blend until smooth. Spread over warm baked layer. Sprinkle with chopped pecans. Cut into bars while still warm. |
