CHOCOLATE PUMPKIN NUT BREAD
1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 lg. eggs
1 c. canned plain pumpkin
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts (walnuts or pecans, almonds)
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/3 c. water

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Mix flour, spice, baking soda, salt and baking powder. Beat sugar, oil and eggs in a large bowl. When well blended, beat in pumpkin and 1/3 cup of water. Stir in flour mixture, then chocolate chips and nuts.

Scrape into prepared pan. Bake one (1) hour 10 minutes or until wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 15 minutes and turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. Makes 18 slices approximately. Freezes well.
