PUMPKIN BREAD 
2 2/3 c. white sugar
2/3 c. vegetable shortening (or butter)
4 eggs
2 c. pumpkin
2/3 c. water
3 1/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. raisins, chopped dates, nuts or chocolate chips

Cream white sugar and shortening. Add eggs. Blend in pumpkin and water. Sift and mix dry ingredients just until blended. Stir in raisins, chopped dates, nuts or chocolate chips. This makes 2 large loaves. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.
