1 1/2 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. dates
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter or Crisco
2 1/4 c. water
2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. mixed fruit
1 or 2 tsp. rum extract

Cook all together until boiling (raisins, dates, sugar, butter, water, cloves, cinnamon and baking soda). Remove from stove, let cool. Then add flour, baking powder, nuts, mixed fruit and extract.

Bake 1 1/2 hours at 325°F.
