COLD OVEN CAKE | |
1 c. butter, softened 1/2 c. vegetable shortening 3 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tsp. lemon extract 1 tsp. orange extract 5 lg. eggs 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour, sift before measuring 1 c. evaporated milk, undiluted Powdered sugar Preheat oven to 300 degrees; grease well and flour a 10" tube pan. In large bowl of electric mixer, at medium speed, cream butter, shortening and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add extracts. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. At low speed, beat in flour, mixing well. Add evaporated milk; beat until well combined. Turn into prepared pan. Bake 1 hour and 45 to 50 minutes, or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 15 minutes; then turn out onto rack, right side up; cool completely. Before serving, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar. |
