PIZZA DOUGH
1 pkg. active dry yeast
About 4 1/2 c. flour
1 c. water
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder

In a 1-quart saucepan, melt butter and heat water until very warm (120 to 130 degrees). In a large bowl, combine yeast, 2 cups of flour, salt and garlic. Mix liquid into dry ingredients until just blended. At medium speed, beat 2 minutes. Stir in 1 1/2 to 2 cups flour to make a soft dough.

Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead dough for about 8-10 minutes, adding more flour as needed. Shape dough into a ball and place in a large greased bowl. Cover the bowl and let dough rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Dough is ready for making PIZZA!

NOTE ON MAKING PIZZA: Dough may be used to make one thick crust pizza or divided to make 2 thin crust pizzas. Top dough with your favorite pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings. Cook pizza in very hot 450 to 475 degree oven until crust is golden brown. For best results with homemade pizza, use a pizza stone to make the crust crispy, even in the middle!
