FORGOTTEN MERINGUES 
2 egg whites
3/4 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts
1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using high speed of mixer, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry, gradually add sugar. Blend in salt and vanilla. Continue beating until meringue is thick and shiny. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Cover cookie sheet with ungreased brown paper. drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Place in oven. TURN OVEN OFF. Let cookies remain in closed oven overnight. If they must be made in the morning, I have let them stay in the oven for about 8 hours.
