MISSISSIPPI MUD CAKE 
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts (opt.)
1 c. shortening
1 med. pkg. mini marshmallows
1/3 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs and beat. Sift in flour, cocoa and salt. Add vanilla and nuts and put in 9"x13" pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 300 degrees. Lay marshmallows on top of cake and return to oven for 10 minutes. Cool cake for 20 minutes and spread with icing.

ICING:

1 1/2 sticks butter
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. nuts (opt.)
1/3 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. evaporated milk

Sift sugar and cocoa. Mix well with melted butter. Add milk, vanilla and nuts. Spread on cooled cake.
