1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sifted flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cream shortening, sugars, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir into creamed mixture, blend well. Add chocolate and nuts. Drop from teaspoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
