1/2 c. butter or shortening 1/2 c. granulated sugar 1 egg, beaten 2 1/2 c. sifted flour 1 c. Brer Rabbit molasses 1 c. hot water 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. cloves 1/2 tsp. salt Cream shortening and sugar, add beaten eggs. Sift dry ingredients together. Mix molasses and hot water together. Add dry ingredients and liquid alternately, a little at a time, beating after each addition. Bake in 9 x 9 x 2 inch greased and floured pan, 45 minutes at 350 degrees. |
