MOTHER - IN - LAW'S ALMOND DROPS | |
1 c. butter & shortening, mixed together 1 c. sugar (1/2 brown & 1/2 white) 1 egg 2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 c. crushed almonds 1/2 tsp. almond extract Cream butter and shortening mixture with the sugars. Add egg; mixing well. Stir together the dry ingredients and add to the first bowl. Add nuts and extract. Coax from a spoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet, or roll into balls and flatten with an almond on top. Bake at 375 degrees about 10 minutes. Cool on rack and store tightly covered. These freeze very well. I usually double the recipe. |
