HOT MAYONNAISE FOR STEW 
1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. diluted vinegar (half water)
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 egg

Put sugar, vinegar, salt and butter into pan and bring to a boil. Meanwhile beat egg until thick. Remove boiling mixture from heat and pour slowly into beaten egg, stirring constantly. Cook over low heat. Pour over cabbage and serve immediately.
