CHRISTMAS DATE PUDDING 
PUDDING:

1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. lemon rind

FOAMY SAUCE:

1 egg
1 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract

PUDDING: In medium size bowl, pour boiling water over chopped dates, add shortening and beat well. Add egg and brown sugar to mixture. Stir in remaining pudding ingredients; mix well. Pour mixture into well greased 1 quart mold. Steam 2 hours. Serve warm with sauce.

FOAMY SAUCE: In top of double boiler beat egg, blend in confectioners' sugar, butter and vanilla. Continue to beat mixture until bubbly. Keep over hot water until time to serve.
