CHERRY NUT COOKIES 
3/4 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
3/4 c. nuts, chopped
3/4 c. shredded coconut
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. milk
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg, vanilla and milk; beat well. Combine flour, soda and salt; gradually add to egg mixture. Fold in cherries, nuts and coconut. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
