MADAGASCAR CRISPS 
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream butter, sugar, and egg. Add vanilla, then remaining ingredients. Chill dough 1 hour, then make small balls of dough and place on cookie sheet. Flatten each ball with glass dipped in sugar.

Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.
