I make this all the time. Delicious and always get asked for the recipe. I make it gluten free and just sub the AP flour with King Arthur's GF flour or Bobs Red Mill. After 25 mins I cover the edges with aluminum foil or it burns keep an eye on the middle so that does not brown too much.

I just made this with a couple of changes from the original recipe: I cut the sugar in the filling from 2/3 cup to 1/3 cup, because I like to have more fruit flavor and less sugar. I used melted butter instead of oil in the crust. And I followed the directions given in the comments to pre-bake the crust, and then bake the pie at 350°F for 40 minutes. I baked it in a 9x9-inch Pyrex dish. It was wonderful and delicious!

I docked, and pre-baked my crust and let it air dry. Based on the previous comments, I baked it at 350°F for 40 minutes. Both crust and topping was perfect golden brown.

one of the 3 total of desserts I make again and again and again. I replace half of the flour with oat meal flour and reduce sugar. Lovely. :)

Amazing pie. First and only pie I have ever made. I make it all the time now! I'm gluten free and use bob's red mill all purpose flour and it comes out perfect - would never know the difference! Would love to try this crust with other fillings, but don't know how. Anyone know?

I made this pie but I took an apple out and put two bananas in 1/4-inch pieces (my hubby loves bananas) and my family loved it, my brother (he's kinda quiet) said to me I tried your pie, is was amazing!! What did you do to it. lol.. I'm planning to do a batch of mini pies on my cupcakes pan.. Please try it, its a great recipe.

Thank goodness my wife had the good sense to check the cake after 30 minutes, when it was almost burned. Baking at 400°F is far too high and it should not be left in the over for more than 30 minutes before checking. We almost lost it.

Great recipe, very tasty and the topping was awesome kinda like an apple crumble topping.

Got confused over the 400°F thing to and my pastry was just a little on the brown side but all good
