APPLESCOTCH NUT BARS 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. Imperial granulated sugar
1 egg
1 c. unsweetened applesauce
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. raisins (optional)
1 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg and applesauce and beat well. Add combined dry ingredients; stir in raisin and nuts. Turn into greased 8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until bars are done. When cool, frost with icing. Yields 16-20 bars.

BUTTERSCOTCH ICING:

3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. cream or orange juice
3 tbsp. Imperial brown sugar
2 c. powdered sugar, approximately

Boil butter, cream or orange juice, and brown sugar together. Add enough powdered sugar to make proper consistency for spreading.
