TOMATO SOUP 
1/4 c. butter
2 onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic or use garlic powder
Fresh tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. white pepper
2 1/2 tbsp. basil
1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
1 lg. can chicken broth

Saute onion and garlic in butter. Puree in food processor or blender. Cook tomatoes until done. Put through colander to get rid of seeds and peelings. Use enough tomatoes to make 3 quarts.

In large kettle combine all ingredients and simmer to blend flavors. If mixture is thin, cook longer to thicken. Put in jars and process in hot water bath.
