Love this idea, I am gonna make this with my girls, should be fun. We make Christmas cookies together and this will be another good recipe to share with them. Have made buckeyes and this is about the same as that.

were do you buy paraffin and what does it taste like?

 Melanie (Louisiana) replies:
Mackenzie, you can buy food grade wax at Wal-Mart. Comes in a box. They keep it in the Candy/Baking section. Doesn't taste like anything.

I made these years ago from an old church cookbook, I melted chocolate with the paraffin, this year I bought the chocolate bark, but how much do I melt to cover the ball?

I have always used chocolate Candi-Quik to coat these. It's available in any grocery store I've ever been in (baking aisle). Easy melt, easy clean up (comes in disposable pan), and tastes great.

This recipe helped much this year, when i couldn't find my cook book where my Grandmother wrote her own recipes, such as the Pom Pom balls, in which were similar to these so I changed the recipe just a little to try my best to have them similar to her Pom Pom balls. Thanks for the recipe - Merry Christmas p.s. they're also very good w/ out the Rice Krispies as too !! :)

These are a family favorite. I use chocolate melts you can buy at any candy store it is less messy and sets quickly.

I'm very new to cooking/baking, so please forgive if this is a crazy question. Katie said she uses fondue chocolate. What/where/how would I get that? I don't like the idea of using paraffin. Also, I want to keep this as simple as possible. The recipe sounds delicious! Thanks!

 Terrie (New York) says:
I found that 3 cups of rice krispies was to much also. I added a extra cup of peanut butter and the consistency was great!! I'll try almond bark next time.

A Christmas Must! I use fondue chocolate, it cuts time and gives them a thick shiny glaze.

I love this recipe, but I don't like adding the wax. I use good chocolate and temper it properly so I don't have to add the paraffin.

I used graham cracker crumbs instead of rice krispies. Works really well. Made them last year for christmas gave to my family as a gift. They loved them. I called them reindeer pooh as a joke.
