BAKED BEANS 
4 c. beans
1/4 lb. salted lard
Salt and pepper
4 tbsp. molasses
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 med. onion
1/2 tsp. dried mustard

Boil beans until outer skin peels, approximately 1/2 hour; strain and rinse in cold water. Cover bottom of stoneware or cast-iron pot with beans and add salted lard. Incorporate other ingredients and remaining beans; add just enough water to cover the beans.

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour and then reduce heat to 250 degrees for remainder of cooking time, approximately 3 to 4 hours. Be sure there is always sufficient water.
