ANGEL BISCUITS | |
5 c. flour 5 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 5 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. baking soda Sift these 5 ingredients together and cut in 1 cup shortening. Add 1 package yeast dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water. Place on floured board and knead. Pat or roll out to 1/2 or 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with a round cutter on in squares. Let rise about 1 1/2 hours. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until done. You can freeze these as soon as you cut them out; take them out of the freezer and let rise for 2 hours and bake. Makes about 24 to 30 biscuits, depending on how thick you like them. |
