CHILI CON CARNE | |
2 lb. lean ground beef 2 (28 oz.) cans crushed tomatoes 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes/puree 3 lb. can red kidney beans 2 (4 oz.) can green chilies, peeled, hot, medium or mild 4 yellow onions, chopped 1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms, sliced In heavy skillet, saute onions in 1 tablespoon peanut oil. Add beef and brown. In large heavy pot, mix tomatoes, kidney beans, chili peppers, mushroom and the following spices: 1 tsp. Mrs. Dash's extra spicy seasoning 1 tsp. hot chili powder, Mexican 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. celery seed Drain beef mixture and add to tomato/bean mixture. Simmer for 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve with shredded cheeses, chopped onions, sour cream, hard rolls, and if desired, more chili powder. |
