PEANUT-DATE BALLS 
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. firmly packed dark sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 c. chopped dates
1/4 c. salted peanuts, chopped
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. crisp rice cereal
Powdered sugar

Combine butter, sugar, egg and chopped dates in a heavy skillet; cook over low heat, stirring constantly 5 minutes or until mixture is thickened. Add peanuts and vanilla; stir well.

Combine date mixture and crisp rice cereal. Stir well. Allow mixture to cool to touch. Shape mixture into 1 inch balls, place on waxed paper. Sprinkle cookies with powdered sugar. Yield: 3 dozen.
