ITALIAN MEATBALLS AND SAUCE | |
MEATBALLS: 1 1/2 lb. ground beef 1/2 lb. hot sausage 1 sm. onion, chopped 3 eggs 5 slices wet bread 3 tbsp. oregano 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese 1 1/2 tbsp. Italian seasoning 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 2 tbsp. pepper 1 tbsp. sweet basil 2 tbsp. salt SAUCE: 2 (32 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 (8 oz.) tomato paste 1 (16 oz.) stewed tomatoes 1 c. Parmesan cheese 2 tbsp. oregano 1 tbsp. Italian seasoning Salt and pepper to taste Mix all meatball ingredients well. Make into 1 inch balls. Heat sauce ingredients and add meatballs. Cook covered over medium to low heat for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Serve as main dish or with spaghetti. Also good for meatball hoagies with melted Mozzarella cheese. Makes approximately 40 meatballs. |
