BASIC BARBECUE SAUCE | |
1/4 c. olive or salad oil 3/4 c. chopped onion 1 clove garlic, chopped 1 c. honey 1 c. ketchup 1 c. red wine vinegar 1/2 c. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp. dry mustard 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. oregano 1 tsp. black pepper 1/2 tsp. thyme Dash of Tabasco Heat oil in pan. Add chopped onion and garlic. Saute until tender, not brown. Add all remaining ingredients and cook to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook another 5 minutes, this time very slowly. This sauce can be stored in jars and need not be refrigerated. It keeps forever. Perfect for basting spareribs, hot dogs, ham steaks, chicken and GREAT on lamb. 1 quart. |
