GERMAN GREEN BEANS 
4 slices bacon
1 onion, thinly sliced
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. water
4 c. cooked or canned green beans, drained

Fry bacon until crisp; remove from skillet, leaving drippings. Add onions and cook until tender. Add flour, sugar, salt, vinegar and water. Mix well and simmer until slightly thickened. Add beans and cook for 5 minutes. Crumble bacon on top before serving.
