1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. hot water
1/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix cocoa, cinnamon, and soda. Add hot water and stir until smooth. Let cool. Cream shortening and sugar. Add one egg at a time, beating until smooth. Add flour and milk alternately. Add cocoa mixture last, mixing well.

Bake in layer pans or 9 x 13 pan. Bake 30 minutes in 350 degree oven, or until done.
