RED VELVET POUND CAKE 
3 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. shortening
7 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
3 c. plain flour
1 c. milk
1 bottle red food coloring

Cake: Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time and beat. Add flour and salt alternately with milk to batter, beating well. Add vanilla and red food coloring, beating until well blended. Pour into greased and floured tube pan and put in cold oven. Set oven at 325 degrees and bake for 1 1/2 hours or until done. Remove from oven, let cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. Let cool completely before frosting with Cream Cheese Frosting.

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

1 box 10X powdered sugar
3 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
1 stick butter
3 tbsp. milk

Melt butter. Add cream cheese, sugar and milk. Cream all ingredients together. If too stiff add more milk, a few drops at a time.
